Starlink Lift recently completed the production and factory testing of a customized hydraulic wheelchair lift for a customer in Bolivia.
The lift is designed to provide barrier-free access between two floors. One of the main challenges of this project was the limited installation space. The lift therefore needed to fit the existing building conditions while providing sufficient space for wheelchair access and safe daily operation.
Customized Design Based on the Customer’s Site
Before production, the customer provided photos and installation information of the site in Bolivia.
Based on the available space, our engineering team analyzed the installation position, cabin size, lifting height and entrance arrangement. A 3D design was then prepared to help confirm how the wheelchair lift would fit into the existing building before production.
After discussing the project requirements, the final specifications were confirmed:
Application: Wheelchair Lift
Floors / Stops: 2 Floors / 2 Stops
Cabin Size: 1070 × 1480 mm
Lifting Height: 3050 mm
Drive System: Hydraulic drive
Power Unit: 2.2 kW
Guide Rail: Aluminum Alloy
The appearance color was selected according to the customer’s preference, and a customized logo was also added to the lift.
Safety Features for Wheelchair Access
Because the lift will mainly be used for wheelchair access, safety was an important consideration in the project.
The cabin door is equipped with a door-opening safety interlock, which prevents normal lift operation when the door is open. Emergency stop buttons are provided at the operating positions, while a manual lowering valve allows the platform to be lowered manually when necessary.
A safety plate is also installed underneath the cabin. If an obstacle is detected beneath the platform during operation, the safety device can stop the lift to reduce the risk of accidental contact.
Factory Pre-Assembly for Easier Installation in Bolivia
Since the equipment will be shipped overseas, reducing on-site installation work was another important part of the project.
The hydraulic power unit, solenoid valve block and hydraulic lines were installed and checked at the factory. The electrical control cabinet, control boxes, floor signal wiring harnesses and operating buttons were also connected and organized before shipment.
The aluminum alloy guide rails were pre-assembled at the factory and packed in their assembled condition, helping reduce the amount of guide rail assembly required after the equipment arrives in Bolivia.
Factory Testing Completed Before Delivery
After assembly, the wheelchair lift underwent factory inspection and operational testing, including checks of the cabin structure, doors, hydraulic system, electrical control system, floor signals, lifting operation and safety devices.
After testing was completed, the lift and its components were packed according to the export transportation plan and prepared for delivery to Bolivia.
From analyzing the customer’s installation site and preparing the 3D design to factory pre-assembly and final testing, this Bolivia wheelchair lift project was customized around the actual building conditions and accessibility requirements.
